You know.. I’m kind of disappointed because when I was a teenager and migrated in the US, I had an identity crisis. I definitely questioned how I look.. and sometimes people would have these assumptions about Filipina women. I definitely had a hard time accepting my hair color and my skin tone. I would always compare myself to my white friends and other asian friends who had lighter skin (chinese and mostly koreans) and would try to get whitening products, even take glutathione pills to get my skin to be lighter. I remember I watched this interview and instantly felt empowered and seen. I stopped dying my hair blonde and embraced my beautiful healthy black hair and I also embraced my brown skin. Because I stopped trying to fit in, I discovered I gained more confidence I exude confidence because of this interview! People can feel my confidence and compliments my skintone. Now I’m disappointed that your new interview, you dismissed your Filipino roots. I held onto this interview from Popsugar when I was a teenager and it helped me a lot. Hard to defend.. was it a “honest mistake” i dont know..
